Neptuna – Stunning Psychedelic Garage Rock

Foro LARVA, Guadalajara, México
21st of March 2025

Walking down a ramp inside a partially restored Art Deco building in the heart of Guadalajara feels like entering a basement; but instead, it is a large, tall room with two undersized grandstands in front of a big, ground level stage. A drum kit, a guitar, a bass, and three microphones await in the shadows. The room goes completely dark, the performers take their places and kick off the set with Venus, a song from the band’s 2023 EP Orbitando.

Neptuna emerged in 2017 and describe their music as “simple but forceful sound that invite you to travel through diverse landscapes”. Its line-up consists of Ana Sofía Guillén on bass, Nathalia Romo on drums, Carolina Tene on Guitar, and all three of them also on a vortex of dazzling vocals that constantly move around the stage. The drumming energizes the powerful groove of a garage sounds with dreamy, psychedelic, interludes; which, as promised, send the listener on an assorted sonic jaunt.

The lighting and stage effects created the right atmosphere for their set-list, which followed with most of their newest, heaviest, and darkest LP, Lútea, released in October 2025. In-between songs, they included a couple of fan-favourite tracks from their 2018 release, Mar Rojo. The spirits in the stands were high as the concert drew to a close, and so the audience vehemently requested an encore. Neptuna matched the ask with their 2020 banger single Ikite Iru.
